CHELTech secures ICON grant
CHELTech is honoured and excited by receiving the Innovation Connect Grant, supported by the Canberra Innovation Network and ACT Government! This grant will significantly accelerate CHELTech’s pathway from lab-mature technology to commercial ready phase.
CHELTech develops cutting-edge innovative technology for hydrogen production via water electrolysis, enabling replacement of expensive platinum electrodes with carbon-based electrodes that are without cost in comparison. With CHELTech, Carbon is the New Platinum!
Our innovation will enable a jump-step reduction in cost of producing hydrogen from water. This will allow massive scale production of clean hydrogen fuel both to underpin Australia’s energy security and its energy exports to meet global demand for green and renewable energy.

Hydrogen powered trains
The world’s first hydrogen-powered commuter train, the Coradia iLint, has begun running in Germany, replacing diesel locomotives on tracks that have not been electrified. Manufacturer Alstom is planning on delivering 14 more of the trains, at a cost of R1.3 billion (€81 million). That is more expensive than the diesel alternative, but more eco-friendly, and expected to be longer lasting. Read more…
Hydrogen cars
Diesel is dead, petrols are to be outlawed and the future is all-electric. While they steal most of the coverage at the moment there are car makers out there examining alternatives, with several, including Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, Honda and Mercedes pouring billions of pounds into the world of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEV).
